I'm excited to share February 12 marks the publication of my latest book, Many Lives Ranch on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited. Set in Texas with visits to Oklahoma, this story has one of my favorite tropes, second-chances.
The need for second-chances is common to all of us. Who hasn't made a mistake in life? And who hasn't needed forgiveness for those mistakes? Forgiveness and second chances are at the very heart of our Christian faith and without these two attributes, people become hard and bitter.
The events in a person's life that create the need for a second-chance often result in deep wounds. In Katy Rose’s case, her wounds started long before the opening chapter of Many Lives Ranch. Her dad loved flying his small plane and convinced her mom to learn to fly, too. When the plane took a nosedive into a Missouri farmer’s field, killing her mom and dad, Katy Rose's life took a sharp turn.
Can you imagine the life of a teen-aged girl who loses the parents she loves, moves from Missouri to Texas, away from her friends, and under the roof of a grouchy, uncaring grandfather? No one to talk with, no emotional support from family or friends, and far from anything familiar. Blake Lightfeather offered Katy Rose a friendship that grew into love.
Rejection by her grandfather created Katy Rose's second life wound, followed closely by the mother-of-all wounds, when she's forced to give up her baby. This wound, giving up her little boy the day he was born under her grandfather's threat to ruin Blake, creates Katy Rose's need for a second chance.
Many Lives Ranch begins thirteen years later, when Katy Rose, who has buried her past, is a social worker and a horse trainer. She dreams about combining her skills to reach at-risk kids with horses, a project that requires financial support unavailable in rural Oklahoma.
One afternoon, Aun Erma (one of my favorite characters) is following internet rabbit trails when she runs into a program looking for an equestrian director, which she figures is right up Katy Rose's alley. Katy Rose interviews for the position and now she must decide if she can bear to leave the security she's gained with her aunt to follow her dreams.
When Blake, now a leading NFL quarterback, left for college on a full ride football scholarship, he never intended to walk away from Katy Rose. While he's dated during his career, beneath the surface, Blake can’t escape the hollow ache that’s followed him since he lost his connection with Katy Rose. He thought success would fill the void—he was wrong.
When Kate’s path crosses with Blake’s, both must confront the choices they’ve made and the truths they’ve buried. For Kate, it’s the secret she’s kept hidden in her heart. For Blake, it’s the chance to face the one who walked away.
As everything they’ve ever wanted comes within reach, life takes an unexpected turn that could shatter their second chance before it even begins.
I can't wait for you to read this exciting story. Watch for it on February 12, or pre-order the e-book now. And be sure to let readers (and me) know how much you love it by leaving a review on Amazon, Goodreads, or BookBub. Find Many Lives Ranch on Amazon or click this link https://amzn.to/3DOnjcN.
